A tornado hit the municipality of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, in the southwest of Paraná, on the afternoon of this Friday, November 7, 2025, at around 5:30 pm. The weather phenomenon caused the destruction of around 80% of buildings in the urban area, with winds exceeding 100 km/h knocking down poles, roofing houses and overturning vehicles. Mayor Sezar Augusto Bovino confirmed three deaths, including two elderly people, and dozens of injured treated in neighboring hospitals.

Teams from the Civil Defense of Paraná are working on site for rescues and damage assessment. Governor Ratinho Jr. declared a state of total mobilization, with red alerts issued for six municipalities. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) and the Paraná Meteorological System (Simepar) recorded gusts above 70 km/h and accumulated rainfall exceeding 36 mm in the region.
The tornado occurred in the midst of an extratropical cyclone that is advancing through the south of the country, generating severe instability.
