The São Paulo Football Federation announced this Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the new regulations for the 2026 São Paulo Championship, adapted to the CBF’s reduced calendar. The tournament will preserve direct clashes between the big clubs, such as Corinthians, Palmeiras, São Paulo and Santos, in the first phase. This change occurs in São Paulo, during an event at Arena Mercado Livre Pacaembu, to balance the number of available dates, limited to 11 by the national calendar.

The 16 participating teams were divided into four pots, with each team playing eight opening games in straight points.

  • All teams from Pot A will face each other, guaranteeing the state classics.
  • Two opponents will be drawn from Pot B and Pot C.
  • A rival will come from Pot D, made up of recent promoted and relegated teams.

The eight best campaigns advance to the knockout stage, with quarter-finals and semi-finals in a single match.

Pot B brings together São Bernardo, Novorizontino, Red Bull Bragantino and Mirassol, teams with good recent performance. Each team in this group will play against the other three in the pot, plus crossover clashes with the others.
