A Military Police (PM) lieutenant was killed in the early hours of Saturday (15) in a confrontation with a group of criminals in the Beira Rio community, located in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The officer, identified as Jonathan Francisco da Silva, aged 34, was rescued, but did not survive injuries caused by gunshots. Jonathan Francisco da Silva was assigned to the 31st Military Police Battalion (BPM) and joined the corporation in May 2019, leaving behind a wife and a 3-year-old daughter.
The action began after an attempted tactical siege by the police team on a group of around 20 suspects, who were armed with rifles, according to preliminary information released by the PM.
